How to Study Islam, the Qur'an and Islam

It has many benefits to study Islam and the Qur’an. It helps you strengthen your faith and to memorize duas. It is also a great way to increase your knowledge, such as by being with scholars or attending da'wah talks and seminars. Reading books on Islamic topics is also a good idea. However, it is better to avoid specialist literature and specialist books unless you have a specific aim, such as ascending to the highest level of Islam.

Shaykh Abullah Anik Mistera is a Canadian-born convert. He was the son of a Hindu family. However, at the tender age of 18 he converted Islam to Islam. After graduating from Toronto University, he briefly worked in marketing before moving to Amman, Jordan with his wife. He studied Islamic law in Jordan and Prophetic biographies. He was also a director of programs at the Qasid Arabic Institute.

Maturidis Introduction to Islam Studies

The Maturidis are a group of Islamic scholars who emphasised the monotheism of God. They believed that all humans are endowed with free will, reason, and that knowing God was the highest duty of an accountable human being. Hence, they held that the Hadiths are inherently unreliable if they contradict reason. They also opposed similitude as well as anthropomorphism. They believed that only God could create.

Islamic theology

The study of Islam's theology can be described as an intellectual discipline, whose roots are in the Quran. The vast amount of Muslim theological literature exists. This course is designed to critically analyze Islamic theology's history and development. It covers key concepts as well as the different schools and great Muslim thinkers. This course will also examine issues such as Islam and secular modernity.


Tasawwuf

The term 'Tasawwuf' has two meanings: 'to observe' and 'to interpret'. In the former sense, Tasawwuf is a spiritual experience that a person can have while studying Islam. It's a spiritual tradition, created by God's Prophet.

In Islamic studies, tafsir (commentaries) are an important resource. They can be used for understanding the meaning of particular Quran verses. There are many types tafsir. Tafsir al-Wahidi (one example) and Tafsir al-Nasafi (one example), are both examples.
