'Pagan' means 'civilian'
Despite the fact that the term "pagan", although it has no religious origins, is often used to describe those who do not follow the traditional religious practices. The word "peasant" comes from the classical Latin "pagus", which also gives rise to the word. The original meaning was "nonreligious", or rustic. Druidism is a spiritual path rooted in the beliefs and practices of ancient pagan cultures. Many druids believe nature is spiritual and believe in alternate lives in the Otherworld. James Lovelock, while working at NASA in the 1960s, proposed the Gaia Hypothesis, which claims Earth is a living organism. Golding gave the hypothesis its title.
'Hellenism'
"Hellenism," a broad umbrella term, refers to many pagan religious traditions emulating the pantheons from the ancient Greeks. These practices are an attempt at reviving religious practices that were once practiced by ancients. Some groups claim that they are the original tradition. Others are revivalists.
'Wicca'
Wicca is a pagan religion that involves worshipping and working alongside a goddess or God. These deities could take on many different forms, including the Triple Goddess and Horned Goddess, as well as the Goddess of Moon. The emphasis of these deities varies by group, but most Wiccans believe that the God and Goddess are one and the same, and that they are both part of the same Divine image.
