The rasta belief is not something you should be surprised at. Rasta men believe being naked can help them connect with God. Rasta women, however, are required to wear ankle-length clothes and must not wear any chemicals or make-up. They are also forbidden from using birth control.
Dreadlocks
The deep spiritual meaning of dreadlock-wearing is a rasta belief. They believe that dreadlocks represent spiritual commitment and awareness of Gods. Dreadlocks are also considered a form self-sacrifice as breaking one of The Seventy-Seven Commandments may result in severe punishment.
ganja
Rastafarian culture includes cannabis use. It is considered to be the herb of all life, and it is often used in religious ceremonies. Rastafarians give evidence of its use in the biblical text Psalms.104:14. The Psalm mentions God growing herb and grass for man and animals, and bringing forth food from the earth. Rastafarians may also believe that King Solomon's grave was where ganja was planted.
Bible
Rasta belief uses the Bible. This isn't a new idea. Rasta beliefs regarding salvation are similar to Judaism. Rastas believe that people who are truly faithful will not die if they do their work. Rastas believe that people who are truly faithful will reach higher levels of existence if they do.
Rasta compound: Women's place
Rasta community is a loving community that treats women with respect. Although men are expected be the dominant members in the community, women can still participate in activities such as Ganja smoking rituals. Women feel welcome and supported in an atmosphere that is generally low-intensity.
Relationships between women and men
While Rastafarians tend to be dominated by male figures in their religion, there are prominent roles for women. Some of them even ponder their roles and responsibilities as mothers and women. Women were subservient to men in early Rastafarian mythology. Their roles were based on biblical gender roles.
