The myths associated with Aphrodite date back as far as the Homeric era. One of the most popular Greek goddesses, Aphrodite is the goddess love. They are often worshipped and found in many homes. Cnidia was another goddess of love. Her statue is still a popular tourist attraction.

The Homeric Hymn from Aphrodite, a masterpiece of Western literature in the early 20th century, is an outstanding example. It tells the story of Anchises the shepherd who is seduced and enslaved by Aphrodite, the goddess love. This poem has a length of less than 300 lines and is one of the longest major Homeric Hymns. It is nevertheless of immense importance for the history of Greek religion and mythology.
